'Makkaratikku' for the University of Lapland

"Makkaratikku" was a practical assignment at the University of Lapland. The task was to create a stick for frying sausages (traditional finnish leisure time activity).

The resulting product fulfills at once several requirements:
- the design of a product permits safe transportation and storage of a stick
- as the whole 'frying sausages activity' mostly engage several people at least, the configuration provides two sticks in one package, which is convenient and thoughtful
- the minimalistic design of the makkaratikku makes it an attractive part of a contemporary interior, while curious twist in assembling adds an extra positive emotions in human/product interaction
Design process: sketching, prototyping
The modesty and purity of design represents contemporary aesthetics as well as refers to the traditional Finnish values in visual expression.
Small details like small facet on the holes and metal 'wave' on one of the sticks add the feeling of completeness
